Tech giants lined up to manage AI risk

According to official Reuters reports, tech giants like Adobe, IBM, Nvidia and 5 other companies have signed an agreement with the United States on artificial intelligence. These voluntary government commitments on AI require steps such as watermarking AI-generated content.

“The president has been clear about harnessing the benefits of AI, managing the risks and moving quickly, and we’re doing exactly that by partnering with the private sector and pulling every lever we have to do that,” White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zintz said in a statement. We will do it.”

The U.S. Congress has debated AI legislation, but nothing substantial has yet become law, and private commitments backed by the Biden administration are now seen as a stopgap. The White House is also working on an executive order on artificial intelligence.
