Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan both claim ownership of the Nagorno-Karabakh region. This claim eventually led to a bloody war between the two sides, and finally, Baku was able to significantly strengthen its position in the region by imposing an agreement on Yerevan. Although the two sides are not at war now, the occasional exchange of fire between the sides is accompanied by casualties.
